I came across this video from BCIT and thought that Rebecca Bollwitt, a.k.a. Miss 604 offers some basic, but valuable insight into Twitter and social media. Take a look at her interview below:
Some of the highlights that I pulled out of her video are:
- managers need to be aware of Twitter
- most of your client base may already be on Twitter
- Twitter is not a replacement for Facebook, but another medium
- you just need to do it
- make sure it is personable
If your organization is similar to other post secondary institutions, internal resources are not ‘experts’ and quite often it takes the advice of an outside resource before leadership will listen. Miss 604’s message in this video may be able to help convince your school’s leadership to take the plunge into Twitter.
If not, I suggest you find some outside consultants in your area that can help provide the justification and evidence to move forward with Twitter and other social media tools.
