If there’s one thing that the Internet has taught us over the years, it’s that we love to share photos of our trips. If you do a search on Instagram for the tag #vacation, you’ll discover that there are over 30 million posts with that tag. Not only do we love to share photos of our tips, but we love to see photos of others’ vacations.
New Mexico State University (NMSU) is attempting to capitalize on our love of sharing and viewing travel photos with a great contest for students studying abroad. The #NMSUSummerDiscovery contest is a fun way to allow study abroad alumni and current students to share photos of their experiences – with the added bonus of getting a chance to win a $50 or $25 Barnes & Noble gift certificate.
Kristian Chervenock, director of NMSU’s Office of Education Abroad shared his thoughts about the campaign:
Annually, more than 400 NMSU students participate in study, internship, research and community services programs abroad. The Instagram campaign is a natural way for our study abroad alumni, as well as those that are currently abroad, to share their experiences abroad with friends, family back home.
I was just informed about this contest this morning (which runs until the end of August) and already there are over 400 Instagram posts with the #NMSUSummerDiscovery tag. I think the contest is destined to be a great success!
Below are a few of the great entries already shared:
What a fun way to promote a study abroad program using a medium that’s a natural fit. Way to go NMSU!!!
