Multiple Signatures Using Google Gmail

gmailIf you have a Gmail account and use it for both personal and professional purposes, you may have needed signatures for each.  Unfortunately, Gmail doesn’t have the ability to create multiple email signatures like Outlook or other clients do.

In my searches, I came across a method that uses the Greasemonkey add-on for Firefox.  I’ve been using the Google Chrome browser for some time now, because Firefox has been experiencing a case of add-on bloat and is running slow.

I came across another article that shares how to get multiple signatures – with no add-ons.  I’ve tried it with my Gmail account, and it works beautifully.  I now have an easy way to insert a signature for personal and work e-mails.  Here are the steps below:

  1. Enable Canned Responses in “Labs” in your gmail account.
  2. Write out your email signature into your email as if you were writing a normal email.
  3. Save the signature as a canned response under any name. (repeat this step for all your various signatures)
  4. From now on, you can write emails as your normally would and once you’ve reached the foot of your email and ready to insert your signature – simply click the “Canned Responses” menu and select the appropriate signature.
